Abstract

The article characterizes activities of Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin) in the aspect of his collecting and archeographic work, in particular his studies of a Zion codex of the Bible on Athos, composition of a systematic catalog of manuscripts of the dwelling of St. Great Martyr Ekaterina, a catalog of manuscripts of the library of Jerusalem Saint Grave Yard in Constantinople, preparation to the publication of acts of the Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery on Athos, etc. The Archimandrite’s memoirs are analyzed as a source on his bibliophilic interests. The contents and composition of the gifts donated by the Archimandrite as a benefactor to the Kyiv Ecclesiastical Academy are presented, in particular a collection of ancient Greek and Slavonic manuscripts on parchment and paper, various pictures and photographs, a collection of ancient Greek and Roman coins, etc. are described. A range of people, who connected p. Antonin with Kyiv, is defined. The destiny of his book and manuscript heritage is traced.
