The goal of the research. Investigate the characteristics, methods, genres of polemical literature in the field of literary criticism in the 20s of the 20th century – the period of national upsurge and cultural revival in Ukraine; to find out the state of studying literature as a socio-cultural reality within the framework of a separate periodical body – the magazine «Chervonyi shliakh». Methodology. In the process of scientific research of literary publications a set of research methods was used: comparative-historical, generalization, descriptive-analytical, culturological, which allowed the author to perform the tasks as much as possible. Scientific novelty. Due to a thorough analysis of publications on the role of content and form in fiction, the main vectors and priorities of the editorial policy of the magazine «Chervonyi shliakh» are revealed; indirectly shows the general atmosphere of creative looseness, pluralism, the struggle for freedom of speech, inherent in the period of the so-called Shot Revival. Conclusions. The years of rapid flourishing of literature in Ukraine were accompanied by no less active development of literary studies. A real downpour of discussion materials captured the columns of periodicals. The tendencies of the all-Ukrainian literary discussion about the role of content and form in the literary text have found their development and have been revealed in a completely new way on the pages of the «Chervonyi shliakh». Due to the active civic position and high qualification of the editorial staff, the journal received materials that vividly represent a variety of discussion branches.
