The goal of the work. The article is devoted to the multi-aspect problem of the relationship between M. Hrushevskyi and the “Dilo” newspaper in the late 19th – early 20th century. Research methodology. In processing various journal materials, we used such techniques and approaches as systematic, comparative and critical analysis of the source base, represented by large text arrays. The application of the content analysis technique made it possible to carry out the correct interpretation of various genres of newspaper information. The scientific novelty of intelligence lies in the fact that for the first time a wide range of relations between M. Hrushevskyi and the magazine “Dilo” was studied during the period of 1885–1914 years. Conclusions. The study revealed the multi-genre and meaningfulness of Hrushevskyana in “Dilo”. It was found that the main journalistic and a number of scientific works of the historian were published on the pages of the newspaper, as well as numerous publications (bibliographic reviews, critical reviews, polemical speeches) devoted to the comprehension of his various activities. A number of unknown texts of the scientist were revealed (fictions, remarks in public discussions, scientific essays). It is proved that despite some conflict, and sometimes outright incompatibility of approaches of M. Hrushevskyi and ideologues of the newspaper concerning tactics of realization of actual tasks of national progress, the edition always kept respectful tone, remaining open for cooperation and tirelessly speaking in defense of the national service of the scientist. In turn, M. Hrushevskyi reciprocated such sincerity with unusual attention to the media tribune of opposition populists, turning it into the most effective tool for communication with the Galician community. As a result, the Galician journal in the period under study is an extremely informative source, which allows us to compile a biochronicle of the life and work of a prominent scientist.
