The article covers the life philosophy of the scientist, his contribution to the development of demography and statistics in Ukraine, the informational content of his scientifi c works and his collection of documents on the history of development and formation of demography and statistics. We have also given the results of his scientifi c researches and achievements which are the issues of marriage, mortality of Ukrainian population and that of 11 nationalities of European Russia, infant mortality by months of a year, perspective calculations of future population numbers and composition.
