Abstract

The purpose of the article is to establish the authorship of the manuscript collection of the middle of the 19th century, to analyze the registries of documents from the history of the Mgar and Ladan monasteries contained in it, to publish previously unpublished documents. The methodological basis is an interdisciplinary approach, primarily comparative-historical and classification methods are used. The scientific novelty consists in the introduction into scientific circulation of unknown sources of the 17th-18th centuries, which relate to the history of two important monasteries of the Hetmanshchyna, in establishing the name of the compiler of the collection of the 19th century. Conclusions. First of all, the name of the compiler of the collection of the middle of the 19th century was established. This is the famous Ukrainian historian Mykola Markevych (1804-1860). The article examines the manuscript collection of the middle of the 19th century. from the fonds of the Institute of Manuscript of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, which contains essays on the history of Hlukhov, Hustyn Holy Trinity, Mgar Holy Transfiguration and Ladan (Ladynskyi) Holy Intercession monasteries and documents related to their history, church hierarchs, the reasons for such an interest in these subjects are indicated by M. Markevych. There are three sources from which the author borrowed materials for his collection; these are handwritten books from the 30s of the 18th century. The specificity of M. Markevych›s presentation of regests is that he not only shortened the documents, but also sometimes added his comments, dividing them into separate sections. The main attention is paid to those parts of the collection where the history of the Holy Transfiguration of Mgar and Holy Intercession of Ladan monasteries is highlighted, from the regests of documents given by the author, those that retell the texts of unknown ones are singled out and they are listed in the appendix. It is especially important that they complement the «Ukrainian Diplomatary of the 16th–18th centuries» and «Ukrainian Orthodox Diplomatary of the 16th-18th centuries».
